If you are a member of the Society of Authors then you can either ATTEND BY ZOOM or VOTE BY PROXY.
If you support Resolution 6 and/or Resolution 7 then you can attend the AGM by zoom to support the speakers and vote for these important resolutions. This will also enable you to speak or ask questions if you wish, including through the electronic chat. If not attending, you can arrange to vote by proxy.
Key dates: register online to attend by Monday 14 November
(or register for proxy vote by 5pm Tuesday 15 November)
attend AGM on Thursday 17 November
Attending: the AGM is at 5pm on Thursday 17 November on zoom. If you attend this will enable you to vote, speak, or ask questions, and will provide moral support to those speaking for the resolutions.
You need to register in advance here using the button at the bottom of page and you will then be sent a virtual link by email. You need to register by Monday 14 November 2022.
Or:
Vote by proxy: If you can’t attend, then download the vote by proxy form. Remember to include your SoA number. Please contact Michelle Styles at michelle@michellestyles.co.uk if you feel the need to have someone other than the AGM chair as your proxy. Submit your completed form to AGanley@societyofauthors.org before 5pm on 15 November.
(If it later turns out you can attend the AGM then your proxy vote will simply be disregarded.)
Participating in the AGM: You will need to have two windows on your browser open to participate. Voting will be electronic and anonymous.
You may wish to speak in support of resolutions 6 and 7. You will have a maximum of 3 minutes if invited to speak. You can ask questions by sending them to the Society of Authors in advance to AGanley@societyofauthors.org or by raising them in the electronic chat at the meeting. This is an important way to raise concerns about any of the resolutions or anything else connected with the Society.
The agenda and all other documentation about the AGM is available at this link.
If you have any further questions then please don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
Morning LoobyLou - I'm the Head of Communications at the Society of Authors. Apologies for contacting you via a comment thread, but this seems to be the only way to get in touch. I understand that you tweeted yesterday about live-tweeting from this evening's AGM. I think you have since deleted that tweet (we would have replied directly to that if it was still there) so it is possible that is no longer what you are planning.
However, we would like to remind you that the AGM is strictly a member-only meeting not a public event. Live tweeting is not appropriate although of course you are welcome to share your views on it publicly afterwards.
Best wishes - Martin.
